Igranka's Second Anniversary Party

2.Dec.2006 What a difference between last year's and this year's anniversary celebrations! From a humble internal party to a public event! The members of our dance school know 36 dances from all over Bulgaria; we have our own, although tiny, folk-orchestra, comprising a gaida and a tapan; our performance group will finish the year with 21 public performances under its belt; our dancers have grown both in numbers and skills; we have four full sets of national costumes from the regions of Moesia, Trakia, Shopluk and Pirin Makedonia. What makes us the happiest, though, is the joy and pride of our dancers from the fact that they are a part of Igranka, as well as the loving relationship we have with the Bulgarian community in Toronto. We are extremely grateful to all of them for that! We are also very happy from the fact that thanks to Igranka, our national dances, instruments, costumes and music are becoming increasingly known among the non-Bulgarian population here. This anniversary party was a truly joyful event - non-stop traditional music and dances, parade of national costumes, delicious Bulgarian food.
We would like to take this opportunity and express our personal gratitude to Mrs. Didi Kaneff for her endless support to our dance group, and for letting us use the Sv. Dimitar Church's banquet hall for our party!
