St. Triphon The Pruner's Day

14.Feb.2008 St. Triphon's Day - the vine-growers' day, the day of wine drinking and merry-making. On this day an age-old tradition, passed on to us by our ancestors, the ancient Thracians, is celebrated: the vineyards and the fruit trees are pruned for the first time in the new agricultural season. This is accompanied by drinking wine; feasting on roasted, stuffed with rice hen, and, of course, lots of folk-dancing. Ah, the joy of being Bulgarian on such a day!
